The Nursing Wards at LSBU are cutting-edge spaces designed to replicate real hospital wards and provide an immersive learning environment where healthcare professionals can prepare for clinical placements and undertake skills practice in a safe, supportive setting. With a focus on patient safety and outcome improvement, our labs combine the latest healthcare technology with realistic simulations to offer an outstanding educational experience.

Our £2 million investment ensures that the Nursing Wards are equipped with sophisticated tools to support your research or practice needs. Advanced simulators like SimMan 2G, 3G, SimJunior, SimBaby, and SimNewB mimic real patient conditions, allowing trainees to manage emergencies such as cardiac events or allergic reactions. Life-like IV arms and Venatech trainers provide the perfect models for practicing venepuncture and infusions, while airway management trainers and intramuscular injection simulators enable learners to refine critical techniques.

Additionally, tools like the Choking Charlie Model allow you to practice essential lifesaving skills, and Glitter Bug Light Boxes demonstrate the importance of proper hand hygiene using UV technology. For assessing vital signs, trainees can utilize ECG rhythm simulators and highly accurate blood pressure monitors, all contributing to a realistic and immersive learning environment.

LSBU’s Nursing Wards offer a practical and realistic setting where learners can bridge the gap between theory and practice. The space is ideally situated to enable clients to undertake skills practice in a modern hospital environment, as the wards enable healthcare professionals to safely gain hands-on experience and make mistakes without consequences. The facilities are managed by experienced technicians, who will be able to support you and answer any questions you have about the equipment.

Our facilities are uniquely positioned to support the healthcare sector's needs, thanks to strong partnerships with over 50 NHS organizations, including renowned institutions like Great Ormond Street Hospital, and are located in central London.

We have a trained group of technicians who will be available to answer any questions you might have about the space. However, it is also possible for you to use the space independently once you have undertaken introductory training on the equipment.

We have several simulation nursing wards located across our Southwark and Croydon Campuses. When enquiring, please specify which location you're interested in learning more about.
